Meeting Architect Nathan Johnson
In August, we had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Mr. Nathan Johnson, a great Architect with work throughout Detroit. Now 92 years old, he's a graduate of Kansas State University. He worked for white-owned firms and the first black-owned firm in Detroit before starting his own. The first meeting of the group that would become the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) was held at his office.
Mr. Johnson shared a wealth of information and invited us to return for more conversation (and education). Some of his work will be featured on our September 21, 2017 bus tour through downtown and Midtown Detroit.
